The shortlist for the three separate age categories was decided by Michael Rosen, children’s novelist, poet and former Children’s Laureate, and his judging panel, consisting of CBBC presenter Katie Thistleton and The Sunday Times’ Children’s Books Editor, Nicolette Jones.
